Bridge Walk
Photographs documenting the opening of the new Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet on the Outer Banks, NC on February 9th, 2019. A large portion of the Dare County community and government officials gathered to celebrate the opening of a safer and more reliable gateway to and from the historic Hatteras Island. Beside the newer and more modern bridge is the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge which connected the island for the first time in history in 1963. This bridge expanded tourism and allowed access to the remote and beautiful beaches of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. These gateways are more than just passageways but a lifeline for the locals of Hatteras, these bridges truly are remarkable pieces of art.
